Mō mātou – About Us Te Kotuku Hauora was first established in 1993 as the health and social services provider for the Māori population living within the Southern Rangitikei area. As part of Te Rūnanga o Ngā Wairiki – Ngāti Apa, Te Kotuku Hauora has particular responsibilities to work with our hapū and Iwi to have a positive impact on the wellbeing of our people, communities in our rohe and our environment. Ko tā mātou mahi – Our Role Based in Marton, Rangitīkei and reporting to the Hauora Manager, the primary responsibilities of this role are to provide whānau centred social work services for children and their families. Working closely with a team you will be responsible for responding to whanau to effectively improve and manage their well-being. There are a range of services including tamariki ora, he puna ora to support hāpu māmā, community mental health, whānau ora and physical education programs. Specific areas of focus will be:

  • Provide comprehensive and effective social work assessment and intervention for patients and their families and whānau to promote and support the best possible health outcomes, autonomy and dignity of life.
  • Case Management – receive and respond to referrals and providing support by engaging with individuals to address their needs.
  • Focus on building relationships to support and reconnect rangatahi with wider whānau, hapū, and iwi.
  • Provide reports as required to meet contractual expectations.
  • Work in collaboration with other agencies to provide co-ordinated support.
  • Uphold the principles of Whānau Ora – working across teams and functions.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu – What you will bring?

  • A full registered social worker practicing certificate with NZ Social work registration board or ANZASW.
  • Full drivers licence.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with children, young people and their families.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Computer literacy with competence in online work processing.
  • Strong ability to build trust and rapport with others.
  • A calm demeanour to deal with stressful situations and challenging behaviours.
  • A good understanding of and tikanga Māori and basic pronunciation of Te Reo Maori names, words and phrases.
